Do I look small to you?

Maddox went in for his 2 month check up today. He went down on the weight growth chart. He only weighs 10lbs 5 ozs. He went from the 55th percentile to the 25th. I feel like a horrible mom. His doctor thinks its my milk supply and probably because I've been cutting back on calories. Maddox always seems happy after he eats so I never thought it was an issue. Anyway, to solve this issue he said I should supplement with formula after every other breast feeding. Next week I'll go back in and they'll weigh him to make sure he's gaining the weight. So I'm pretty much the suckiest mom ever for starving my kid. Poor little guy.
Oh and formula stinks.

He looks adorable, and not too small. I rarely say this but I hope my baby looks as cute as yours :)

don't even let them pressure you into feeling bad! he's happy, he's fine.

You are a wonderful mother.

plus i'm not a doctor but i wouldn't recommend supplementing with formula. why don't they just tell you not to cut back on the calories. that breastmilk will be better for him than anything.

hummm...

If he's happy don't let it get you down! We started Georgia on a bottle per day after about a month just to get her used to it as well as boost her weight. It DOES stink. She didn't really spit up much until I weaned her - I could do without that part.

No Carly, a bad mom wouldn't take her baby for his check-ups and then the baby would get really sick. You on the other hand are responsible and will take good care of him. Maddox has plenty of time to catch up on his weight. I'm sure things will work out!

I agree with everyone else, those charts are always so off. You are a great mom, and he will probably hit a growth spurt now that the Dr.'s weighed him. That's what Evan did, and now he's a chub!

I wouldn't worry. All babies are different. Laney didn't hit 20 lbs. until she was a year and a half. She was always in the low percentile and she is still in the under 5% and she eats alot! So sometimes the food intake doesn't matter.

Plus...I agree with Shannon about maybe not cutting calories.

Don't cut calories! I know how tempting it is to cut calories so you can get your body back. I wouldn't cut calories until he is 6 months or older and eating other food. Don't supplement with formula! It is so bad for babies! Every baby is different and as long as he is hydrated, has wet, and messy diapers he is fine. Having 5 kids I have heard everything from their doctors. I do listen to them, but I also follow my intuition. Dr's don't know everything. You are a GREAT mom btw!

Can't speak from experience but Kris and Chelle had the same problem with their kids. They'd eat like crazy but never put on the weight until later. The doctors got all freaky but the kids are healthy, happy and growing like weeds. Sometimes it's just like that.
