Goodbye Elder Thompson

Last week, my baby brother left on his mission to Hamburg Germany. Well, actually he is in the MTC (missionary training center) in Provo Utah for two months to learn the language and learn how to teach the gospel. Then he will go to Germany in December. Alec will be there for two years and can call home on Christmas day and Mothers day. He also can send weekly letters. We said our goodbye's here and that was REALLY hard for me. It was much harder this time than when my two older brothers went on their missions when I was in junior high. We will miss him so much, but we know he is doing the Lord's work. We are so proud of him and his example to our children. My parents took these pictures right before they said goodbye to him.

Carly, Alisha told us you found her blog site and that Alec is in MTC. Wow has time flown bye! Do your parents have a blogsite? What is their email address? We have lost contact with them over the years, shame on us!. Say hi to them for us, and we will watch your bog, cute kids! E/S Waller

It is bitter sweet to send family on missions. It is a complete blessing, but you miss them so very much. How exciting to go to Germany, he will have an amazing life changing experience!

Hey Carly, I will put you and your parents on my email list so you can see when I update my blog. This is our 3rd mission. We started out in 2001-2003 serving in the Singapore Mission, where we served in two areas, Sri lanka and Malaysia. We then took a year break and lived with Sharon's parents to help with her father who was trying to live at home versus a nursing home, rough year! We then were called to serve in the Curitiba Brazil Mission, 2004-2005. After that mission we again returned to SLC and lived with Erika for a little over a year. The 1st 6months Sharon was taking care of Chris as she was having a difficult pregnancy and put to total bed rrest at 17 weeks. A long year. We now have 8 grandaughters. Each of our children have 2 girls. Scott and Rebecca live in Moses Lake, Erika and Aaron live in SLC; Chris and Nick live in Boise; and Alisha and Tom also live in Boise.
Well that is about the big update. Take care and say hi to your family for us. What is your email address? E/S Waller
